As the importance of precision phenotyping in plant science is increasingly accepted, phenotyping demand in Australia is expanding. Phenotyping technologies have improved substantially over recent years, however, resources available to Australian plant scientists are limited and a coordinated approach is required to help ensure that phenotyping capacity can be accessed in the most effective manner across the country.
Plant Phenomics Australia is a network that aims to:
foster the development of a coordinated plant phenotyping community that makes best use of existing resources,
- develops/accesses new technologies and supports platforms for data exchange and reusability,
- provide a platform to connect the expertise of diverse groups from platform operators, user groups, technology developers, and policy makers,
- engage and inform diverse stakeholders,
- promote and facilitate educational activities, e.g. phenomics workshops, conferences, student exchange, extension events,
- leverage linkages with international plant phenomics networks.
